4 days trek in M’goun massif

Day 1: Marrakech Aarouss Ikkis

Depart Marrakech for the central High Atlas, passing through the small town of Azilal.  We then take the road to the Tirghis pass at 2600m before arriving in Aarous, the starting point of our Mgoun trek. We climb along the Arouss valley to reach the superb Ikiss pasture, where we bivouac at 2300m.

Day 2: Ikkis plateau de Trkeddit 2900m

After breakfast, we begin our walk by climbing to the Aghri pass at 2400m. Along the way, we'll come across some sheepfolds and perhaps (if we're lucky and in summer) camels belonging to nomadic families. After a 3-hour walk, we'll reach the Aghri pass, where we'll have another look at the summit of M'goun, the highest point of the central High Atlas. We then descend (approx. 2 hrs) to the Tarkeddit plateau, where our cook will welcome us with an open-air picnic. This is also the plateau where we'll set up our bivouac. The afternoon will be devoted to a siesta or short walks for those who still have the energy!

(Over the day: approx. 5 hours' walking, level: medium).

Day3: Tarkdit plateau, summit of Mount Mgoun 4071m, Izabin 2800m

This will be the most intensive day of our trek. Of course, those who do not wish to make the ascent are not obliged to do so. In this case, they can follow the path taken by the muleteers to reach the bivouac directly (2h30 walk). For the others, the departure will be at dawn, and before setting off, it's important to make sure you have at least a liter and a half of water in your bag. We recommend that you be technically equipped for the ascent, as it can get cold at the summit (even in summer, against all odds!) We advise you to bring gloves, a hat, a warm coat and walking sticks, which can be very useful on the descent. We'll start the walk with a gentle gradient (1h30), followed by a more challenging, mineral climb (where you may find fossils along the way) (2h30). Then we reach the ridge where we can start to see the highest peaks of the High Atlas (1h30). When we reach the summit of M'Goun, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch in our rucksack and a breathtaking panoramic view of the peaks of the High Atlas, the Valley of the Roses and the Saghro massif. Then it'sThen it's downhill for 2h30 to our bivouac site. We drink a well-deserved green mint tea after this beautiful day's walking.

(Over the day: approx. 8 hours' walking, level: strong).

Day 4: Isabin , Ait Said village, Marrakech

After breakfast, we start our walk with a short descent and then a short ascent to the Asdrm 2400 pass before descending to the Aarous valley. After lunch under the walnut trees, we'll take the car back to Marrakech. 4 hours walk and 4h30 drive.
