Toubkal Trek 2 days

Trek Atlas Maroc invites you to trek to the summit of Toubkal in 2 days. This is a very sporty trek, but does not require any technical difficulty. A trek to discover the Berber villages of Imlil and Aremed and the authentic Amazigh culture,  also the most beautiful landscapes of the High Atlas.

Toubkal is the highest peak in the Maghreb, and climbing Jebel Toubkal is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers. The small Berber villages offer a unique insight into the traditional way of life of locals.

Day 1 : Marrakech-Toubkal refuge (3205m)

Pick up from Marrakech at around 8 a.m. to High Atlas where the Toubkal massif is located (1h30 drive). We pass through small town of Asni, a provincial center of a Berber villages of the Toubkal region. We arrive to Imlil (1800m), where our muleteer welcomes us to start our trek. After a two-and-a-half-hour walk, we get a shrine of sidi Chamharourch. This is the ideal place to have lunch and enjoy nice views. We continue our ascent towards the Toubkal refuge (2h30). We'll have dinner and spend the night at the refuge (on request, we can also set up a tented bivouac under the stars).

(Day trip : 1hr 30min tourist transport and 5hrs walk, advanced level).

Day 2 : Toubkal Refuge (3205m) -Toubkal (4168m) -Marrakech

We'll start walking at dawn (departure around 5 a.m.) We recommend that you are technically well-equipped for the ascent, as it can get cold at the summit (even in summer, against all expectations !) We recommend that you bring gloves, a hat, a warm coat and walking sticks, which can be very useful on the descent. The ascent takes 3h30, and by the time we reach the summit, we'll be "on the roof of North Africa", gazing out over distant plains and enjoying breathtaking views of the neighbouring peaks, which also reach an altitude of 4000m. The descent takes 2 hours. We'll have lunch at the refuge. We then continue our descent for 4 hours to reach Imlil and take the road back to Marrakech (1h30).

(Day trip: 1h30 of tourist transport and 8h of walking, high level)
