Mount Toubkal in 5 days' walk

Just a few kilometers from Marrakech, we invite you to trek through the Berber villages of Toubkal. Accommodation in gites, tents and refuges.

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech and transfer to Imi Oughlad

We'll pick you up at the airport and set off for the Western High Atlas where the Toubkal massif is located (1h30 drive). We'll pass through Asni, a small town and provincial center for the remote Berber villages of the Toubkal region. We arrive at ImiOughlad (1700m), where our muleteers welcome us and start our trek. A beautiful ascent to the Tacht pass (2020m) through a forest of juniper and holm oak before arriving at the Tacht pass, where we'll admire a breathtaking view of the Azaden valley with its contrasting colors.Continuation of the walk to the gite at Tahliouine 1800.

Day 2: - Thliouine - Col de Tizi (2400m) - Azib Tamsoulte (2250m)

 After breakfast, we begin our walk by discovering important aspects of the Berber way of life, particularly in terms of agriculture and architecture, especially at the old village of Tizi Oussem. We'll have a fine view of the valley, with its terraced cultivation and great diversity of landscapes. Passing through the villages of Aït Aissa, we take in the panoramic view of the Azzaden valley, then pass through a juniper forest before arriving at Azib N'Tamsoulte (Azib = sheepfold in Berber).Overnight at the Tamsoult refuge.

 5-hour walk.

Day 3: Azib Tamsoulte (2250m) - Col d'Aguelzim (3550m) - Refuge du Toubkal (3205m)We leave our gîte to take a well-trodden path up to the Col d'Aguelzim (3550m). From the pass, panoramic views of the entire massif (Toubkal summit 4,167m, Ouanekrim 4,080m, Oukeimden 3,700m...), then the descent to the Toubkal refuge - overnight stay (3200m). 6-hour walk.

Day 4: -Ascension of Toubkal (4165 m) - Descent to Armed (1900m)

Departure around 5am (to avoid bad weather) for the ascent of Toubkal, the roof of North Africa. From the summit, the view is panoramic over the volcanic massif of Toubkal and the surrounding mountains. Return to the refuge for lunch. After lunch, we continue our descent to Armed. Overnight at the friendly giteAremd. 8-hour walk.
